King Charles is prepared to make peace with his 'darling boy' Prince Harry, but urgent circumstances, aside from Prince William's complaints, are holding the king back.
The Duke of Sussex made a significant gesture for his estranged father after receiving a personal phone call from the queen notifying him of his shocking cancer diagnosis.
Harry made a quick overnight trip to the UK to visit his father in February, but no additional reunion arrangements have emerged since.
Previous sources stated that Prince William, who is still "furious" with his brother and does not speak to him, is preventing his father from holding peace talks with Harry.
However, according to a new story from The Telegraph, King Charles has been obliged to postpone any reconciliation attempts owing to major legal issues that might jeopardize the monarchy.
Harry is involved in a long-running legal dispute with the UK government over the decision to reduce his security following his departure from the firm.
"Here we have an unfortunate scenario in which the King's son is suing the King's ministers in the King's courts. "That is pulling the King in three different directions," a top constitutional expert told royal historian Robert Hardman.
"You also have the situation where the King's son publishes accounts of private conversations, some of which have been, shall we say, wrong," the psychologist said.
He went on to say that if Harry addressed the topic with the King and any erroneous recall was reported, he could easily stir up trouble by saying "My father said this" at a court hearing. King Charles hopes to prevent a similar disaster.
"There would be serious legal consequences," the expert added.
Otherwise, Palace insiders quoted in Hardman's revised book say King is "not opposed to some sort of rapprochement with the Sussexes.
