Jay Leno revealed that he had to live with a horrible memory as a result of Jimmy Kimmel's scathing remarks about him and his program.
The 74-year-old comedian and TV broadcaster invited Kimmel to his show after the latter refused to take up The Tonight Show to him in 2010.
During his discussion with Kimmel, Leno inquired about the funniest pranks he had played on the program. The comedian, in response, said, "I told a guy that five years from now I'm going to give you my show, and then when the five years came, I gave it to him, and then I took it back almost instantly," referring to the incident between him and Leno.
Looking back, on the most recent episode of on Depth With Graham Bensinger, Leno remarked, "When Kimmel came on my program and humiliated me on my own show, I allowed it to happen. "I did not edit it."
He went on to say, "It was my error; I trusted someone. I said, "Ah, I made a mistake." Okay, I should pay the price. It's fine. We could have cut that out of the show."
When questioned why he did not alter it, he said, "Because it happened." It's genuine; it occurred. It was my error. "That is how you learn."
Leno said that the incident did not make good television since it "started a whole thing that continues to this day, really." But it's okay. He's a comedian, so you do what you gotta do. I wouldn't have done that, but that's fine. That's okay. "It is what it is."
Although the two were never good friends again, Kimmel has previously stated that they finally made amends.
