Prince Harry recalls meeting the parents of his fiancée Chelsy Davy.
The Duke of Sussex's ex-girlfriend accompanied him to meet her mother and father in Cape Town a few months into their relationship.
When asked about the encounter, Harry describes the pair as the finest 'in-laws' someone could possibly have.
"She encouraged me to come back to Cape Town, meet her folks," he writes in 'Spare. I did. And I liked them right away. It was difficult not to like them. They liked amusing stories, gin and tonics, fine cuisine, and stalking. Her father was bear-sized, broad-shouldered, and cuddly, but he was also a clear alpha. Her mother was small, a great listener, and a generous giver of spectacular embraces.
"I didn't know what the future contained, and I didn't want to put carts before horses," Harry continues, "but I thought: If you created in-laws from the ground up, you couldn't do much better than these people."
Harry and Chelsy split up in 2010, six years after they originally met in Cape Town.
