The impending Michael Jackson biopic has received a fresh release date as studio officials anticipate the film's award potential.
Michael, a biographical musical drama starring Jaafar Jackson as his uncle, is now set to be released in theaters on October 3, rather than April 2025.
This comes as Lionsgate execs were considering the picture as a possible awards season candidate.
The film will follow the events of the King of Pop's life and career from his days with the Jackson 5 as a youngster to his last weeks before his death at age 50.
During his royal visit at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Fuqua provided a rare insight inside the film and said that it was still in the editing stages.
The filmmaker stated at the time, "Why I wanted to make it is, Michael."
King expressed his affection for the pop singer and disclosed Jackson's effect on his life, saying, "Michael was a significant part of my life growing up, a tremendous influence on my career, a wonderful musician - but he was also a human person, and we're looking into that. "I am very excited about it."
