Rashida Jones, Quincy Jones' daughter, paid a poignant homage to her father, who collaborated with musicians like as Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.
The Parks and Recreation star gave her late father's remarks at the Governor's Award Ceremony on November 17th.
The late performer received an honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar.
During her prize winning speech, Sunny disclosed that her father had written a speech and "intended" to attend the ceremony before the tragedy occured.
She was joined by her siblings Martina, Quincy III, and Kenya as she said, "Our father passed away two weeks ago today."
"He was really excited to attend tonight, and a lot of his family are here," she informed me.
Reflecting on her father's warm sense and social abilities, she stated, "He has so many friends in this room, well, actually probably in every room because wherever he went, he made connections with everyone."
Rashida claimed that her father was "working on his speech" as she began delivering it to the audience.
The speech began with her father feeling "honoured" to accept his prize and reflected on his goals of becoming a film composer.
The address also reflected on his career milestone of collaborating with artists such as Sydney Pollack, Richard Brooks, and Steven Spielberg.
"When I was a young film composer, there were no faces of color working in the studio commissaries. "I'm so proud of the fact that my name and contributions can be included in that evolution," Rashida said.
The late Jones closed his statement by dedicating the prize to all of his friends in the profession over the last seven decades.
Rashida, who is still in mourning, stated that, while "it was a difficult decision for our family to be here tonight," the family wanted "to celebrate his beautiful life and career."
Quincy Jones, 91, died of pancreatic cancer on November 3rd.
