The late Queen Elizabeth's well-documented fondness for chocolate has been regarded as a distinguishing feature of her sweet inclinations.
Former royal chef Darren McGrady, who served the Royal Family for 15 years, revealed delicious details about the Queen's love of sweets, particularly chocolate-based delights, in an interview with Hello! magazine.
McGrady said that the Queen was an unashamed "chocoholic," always preferring chocolate-based meals, especially her famous chocolate perfection pie. One of her favorite indulgences was chocolate biscuit cake, which had a particular place in her heart and was solely for her delight.
"The chocolate biscuit cake is different," he explained. "She's got a little piece. It comes down to the kitchen, where we keep it safe until it goes up again tomorrow. Every day, it rises higher and higher until it is completely gone. Definitely her favorite dessert."
The cook went on to say that the Queen's regular afternoon tea comprised a variety of cakes, such as lemon or ginger, as well as sandwiches like smoked salmon or cucumber, which were always presented without crusts.
"She is absolutely a chocoholic," McGrady said, describing her fondness for chocolaty treats.
