Google Pixel 9a is expected to be released next year as the successor to the Pixel 8a model, and the handset's specifications were already leaked online. An X (previously Twitter) user has released two live shots of the rumored Pixel 9a variant, providing a detailed look at the smartphone's appearance. It might include an oval-shaped back camera module, rather than the metal "visor" featured on Google's Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro versions, which were released in August.
Google Pixel 9A Design (Leaked)
The first image shared by X user fenibook (@feni_book) depicts the back panel of the alleged Pixel 9a variant. Instead of the "G" logo, the handset in the leaked image has an entirely different one. This is not unusual for Google's smartphones; past leaked photographs of prototypes have shown various logos that were removed before the phones were manufactured.
Meanwhile, the live shot of the Pixel 9a prototype confirms earlier claims that the smartphone will have a rear camera module without a projecting metallic border, as seen on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. Instead, the Pixel 9a is revealed to have a horizontal twin back camera arrangement positioned to the left, with an LED flash on the right.
According to the second photograph given by the user, the front of the Pixel 9a will resemble its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. The display of the leaked prototype looks to sport a center-aligned hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. The Pixel 9a live picture also shows heavy bezels, similar to the Pixel 8a variant.
Previous sources indicate that the Pixel 9a would be powered by Google's Tensor G4 chip, which is also utilized in the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. It's also reported to include 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The Pixel 9a is reported to include a 48-megapixel dual-rear camera configuration.
The device would allegedly have a 6.3-inch screen with a refresh rate ranging from 60Hz to 120Hz. It is also rumored to include a bigger 5,000mAh battery than its predecessor, which had a 6.1-inch screen and a 4,500mAh battery. More information about the device is expected to surface in the following months, ahead of its projected release in 2025.
