Samsung revealed the One UI 7 beta deployment in certain territories a month following its debut at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2024 in San Jose, California. The update brings Android 15 to Galaxy devices, introducing visual enhancements with more customization options, a new notification system called Now Bar, redesigned One UI widgets, an improved user interface (UI) for the camera app, and new features to Galaxy AI — the company's suite of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
One UI 7 Beta Availability and Eligible Models
Samsung claims the One UI 7 beta program will first be accessible for the Galaxy S24 series in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It may be joined by registering for the beta program using the Samsung Members app. The business emphasizes that the update's functionality may differ based on the location or area where the user resides.
It supports 29 languages and dialects, including Arabic, Chinese, English (Australia, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States), Dutch, French (Canada, France), German, Hindi, Spanish (Mexico, Spain, the United States), and Vietnamese.
One UI 7 Beta Features
One UI 7 beta includes Samsung's three primary aims, which were stated at SDC: purposeful simplicity, distinctive impression, and emotional attachment. According to the South Korean technology company, it introduces a new notification system that is believed to make it simpler to view alerts from the lock screen, thanks to an addition known as 'Now Bar'. It shows relevant activity from applications such as Interpreter, Music, Recording, and Stopwatch, offering important information without the need to open the smartphone. Samsung has confirmed that this functionality would be exclusive to the next-generation Galaxy S series.
The native Camera app has been revamped to better organize camera buttons, controls, and modes. According to the business, the One UI 7 beta includes streamlined settings for shooting in Pro and Pro video modes, as well as a zoom control option for seamless transitions.
The variety of AI functions available in One UI 7 beta is an important aspect of the product. Galaxy AI includes powerful writing features that have been incorporated into the operating system (OS), reducing the need to switch applications while selecting text. Users may do grammar and spell checks, adjust the writing tone, summarize, and make bulleted lists, much like in Apple Intelligence.
Call transcripts support 20 languages and function automatically with recorded conversations. Other highlights of the upgrade include less visual clutter, revamped One UI 7 widgets, and a new lock screen.
