Tom Cruise, an action star, has been leading the Mission: Impossible series for decades.
The 62-year-old is currently preparing to release the second installment of the eighth sequel, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.
The title has left fans wondering if director Christopher McQuarrie and Tom would conclude the narrative of Ethan Hunt.
Both have not explicitly addressed the issue, but in a recent interview, the Top Gun star provided some explanation.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Cruise was asked if he would be wrapping up the role of IMF agent Hunt, to which he answered, "You gotta see the movie."
"It's a hard thing for me to discuss at the moment, because it really is something that you have to experience" , commented Tom.
Prior to this, McQuarrie, who has been working on the movie since 2015 Rouge Nation, hinted that The Final Reckoning might be the conclusion to the saga.
He stated to the magazine, "I hope, the satisfying conclusion to a 30-year story arc,"
"I'm pretty confident that people are going to feel that the title was appropriate" , the writer/director stated.
Cruise stars in the film, which will be released worldwide on May 21, 2025, and is produced by Paramount Pictures.
