Jessie Mei Li, well known for her role as Alina Starkov in the Shadow and Bone series, spoke on her experience on the drama's set.
The drama series is an adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's best-selling novel of the same title. Unfortunately, it was canceled after only two seasons on Netflix.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Last Night in Soho actor talked about her acting career and her upcoming film Havoc.
She stated, "I never envisioned this as my life. "I sort of stumbled into acting by being in the right place at the right time."
When Mei Li was given the role in Shadow and Bone, she was first overwhelmed by the abrupt jump from being a typical British girl to being recognized, thinking, "I don't know if this is for me."
She stated that despite taking "a couple of acting classes and courses," she lacked considerable experience.
"So Shadow and Bone went from a bad situation to a worse one. "I learned a lot because I was always on set and in everyone's business," she explained.
The 29-year-old artist expressed her thanks for the fantasy novel adaption, stating that after obtaining skill-building experience on set, she now feels "much more literate" while working on other projects.
"So I am grateful for Shadow and Bone. "It couldn't have been a better first job," she explained.
Mei Li's latest picture, Havoc, has been playing in theaters since April 25.
