The executives at Warner Bros. have provided an update on the status of the next Batman film.
According to the most recent update, Robert Pattinson's DC superhero picture, scheduled for release in 2027, has reached the screenplay process.
In a recent interview, Warner Bros. co-CEOs Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca revealed details about the forthcoming sequel.
The team quietly stated that they are not interested in providing unnecessary information while focusing on the overall picture.
According to the co-CEOs, filmmaker Matt Reeves is currently working on the screenplay, which will be released after he has completed his 'greatest Batman script'.
In a statement to Deadline, Abdy stated, "We're not in the weeds on Batman things. "DC is actually run by James and Peter Safran."
"We have a bit of other collaboration with Matt Reeves, but Peter and James know he is a writer/directing auteur in his own right, and that it will come when he's written his best Batman script and is ready."
The latest revelation follows Pattinson's supposed casting in the next Dune film, which stirred debate.
The developers of Dune: Messiah appear to be interested in casting the Twilight actor as the villain in the future picture.
The announcement sparked concern among Batman fans, who wondered if the next DC picture would be further delayed given the 38-year-old actor's hectic schedule.
Aside from Dune, Robert has been hired to play a key role in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
