Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived to New York City on Wednesday, but not without "over-the-top" security measures.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in New York for the renowned Time100 Summit, where Meghan was asked to speak as the creator of the lifestyle brand As Ever.
While the event was a star-studded occasion, what attracted the public's attention were the "abnormal" security precautions taken by the Sussexes during their brief visit, according to images acquired by Page Six.
Harry and Meghan were joined by their bodyguards in two SUVs, with two unmarked police vehicles behind them as part of their entourage.
According to paparazzi sources, the four-car procession had "abnormal" levels of protection, even for the most well-known celebrities.
"Taylor [Swift] usually has two cars — her car and a security car with her team," the insider said, adding that the Grammy winner is more humble than the royals.
"And if [Swift's] going somewhere, she has a separate car on-site with her team already there, but they don't travel together."
Furthermore, celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian often travel with no more than two SUVs for themselves, their teams, and family members.
The insider was outraged to learn that the "city was paying" for the absurd Sussex security.
However, a source previously told the publication that the head of any celebrity's security team may request more police protection "based on the threat assessment and the circumstances of where they're going and what they're doing."
The visit also comes after Harry and Meghan were involved in a "near catastrophic" 2023 vehicle chase in New York, which made them feel unsafe.
However, there were concerns raised after law enforcement sources stated that Harry and Meghan had exaggerated the situation, which was not as terrible as they reported.
