A fan-favorite Marvel hero has made an impressive debut as a harbinger of doom.
The enigmatic Silver Surfer emerged in the first teaser for Fantastic Four: First Steps, announcing the advent of a cosmic-level threat: Galactus, a gigantic cosmic creature that feeds on the energy of worlds.
The silver figure, played by Julia Garner, glides onto Earth to tell its defenders, the new Fantastic Four, that the planet has been "marked for death."
Pedro Pascal stars as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), while Vanessa Kirby plays the determined Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn plays the fiery Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach voices The Thing.
In a surprise that enhances the emotional stakes, Kirby's Sue is discovered to be pregnant as the invasion approaches.
"We'll confront it together. "As a family," she exclaims in the video, rallying her crew as the threat approaches.
The last seconds of the current trailer show Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson, rampaging down a city street.
In addition to Pascal, Kirby, Garner, Ineson, Bachrach, and Quinn, the Fantastic Four: First Steps ensemble features Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.
Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to open in cinemas on July 25.
While the new film takes set on a parallel Earth distinct from the long-running MCU, the characters will somehow cross over into the regular timeline, since the four key actors have already been revealed as part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released in May 2026.
