Tom Cruise is one of the most brilliant and tough performers in Hollywood.
The 62-year-old is world-renowned for completing all of his death-defying action sequences in his most successful franchise, Mission: Impossible.
Cruise is once again pushing the bar with the new high-octane action teaser for his next flick, which will be released globally on May 23.
The new pioneering trailer for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning has the celebrity dangling from biplanes in one of the sequences. Meanwhile, he may be seen performing some quite dangerous underwater exploits.
His fans and followers think Tom isn't receiving the respect he deserves.
The dispute began after The Academy established a new award category for stunt design, and the Top Gun: Maverick star's fans appear to be furious about it.
They argue that the Academy should have established this category earlier and recognized Tom's contributions to the action picture series.
One of them said, "Tom Cruise should get the first stunt category Oscar as a lifetime achievement award."
At the same time, another wrote: "They should give Tom Cruise and the whole Mission: Impossible stunt team an Honorary Oscar for their contributions to stunt community."
A third admirer said, "What is wrong with them, why would they not introduce it this year so they can give the first one to Tom Cruise for the last Mission Impossible movie…" "Are they dumb?"
The next sequel, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, will reunite the action hero with Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.
