Bindi Irwin recently skipped the annual Steve Irwin Gala due to a medical issue.
She was not present, but her brother, Robert Irwin, who attended the ceremony in Las Vegas on Saturday, announced that Bindi had undergone surgery.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, the 21-year-old said, "She'll be fine, but surgery was not something we were prepared for."
He also claimed that their mother, Terri Irwin, will be missing the event honoring the late Steve Irwin to assist her daughter with her recovery.
"She's just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes," the shrill voice said. The Irwins actor continues, saying, "Health is so important—it really is."
Robert gushed about his sister, adding, "Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women's health, particularly, and I think it's really important to prioritize getting help."
Bindi went public about her endometriosis diagnosis in March 2023, and her story was featured on the cover of PEOPLE magazine in August of that year.
She was the first worldwide personality to receive the 2024 EndoFound Blossom Award at the 12th Annual Blossom Ball in New York City.
