Blake Shelton recently issued a powerful response to outraged critics on May 28, following reaction from his and wife Gwen Stefani's AMA performance.
The musician's fans lambasted the duo after learning that they were not on stage at the American Music Awards and had instead pre-recorded their performance prior to the event on Monday night.
'We've been lied to,' commented a TikTok user who claimed to have been at the awards presentation and videotaped Gwen and Blake's performances on a screen from a balcony seat.
Blake has now replied to the outrage, telling X: "Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pre-taping our performances for the AMAs."
"We came and performed when the show requested us to. There's really nothing else to say.
Gwen performed a medley of her favorite songs to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her 2004 album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
However, another TikTok video from the same user featured a pre-recorded rendition of the 48-year-old country music star's song Stay Country Or Die Tryin'.
'The weirdest part of the AMAs last night was being informed, "And here's Blake Live," only for them to light up the stage as if he was present, without telling us it was pre-recorded.
One reader said, 'LOL even the performers didn't show up.'
'Gwen Stefani performs live! ... somewhere else! Another user made a joke.
