Joe Jonas recently stated why he is postponing the release of his second solo album, Music For People Who Believe in Love.
The 35-year-old Jonas Brothers star, who has already published his highly awaited follow-up to his 2011 album Fastlife, spoke about how he came to create his new one and how he delayed it from being released for over a year after it was finished, despite wishing to launch early.
"We were writing for a camp for the [Jonas] brothers. "I was just drawn to this one song, and I asked the guys for approval," he told PEOPLE magazine.
Joe went on, "I was like, 'Hey, can I please take this one and maybe just explore where this could go for myself?'" It felt quite intimate."
"Nick's statements were like, 'I understand. I'm jealous, but I understand.' "He's like, 'I didn't write on it, so I can't really say no,'" the singer recounted, adding that the event occurred in March of the previous year.
After that, Joe and his team, which included Justin Trainor, Alexander 23, and Lush as writers, "just carried on and made the album in two-some weeks."
Even though Music For People Who Believe in Love was written swiftly, the Camp Rock singer revealed why he had been "sitting on" the project, after initially declaring that the album would be released in October.
"I was excited to get it out for a while. I suppose I phoned my management last year and asked if I could simply leak the album or release it. "I was like, 'I'm tired of waiting,'" he said.
Joe Jonas was "convinced not to," but is pleased he waited, especially because his most recent hit, Heart by Heart, "wouldn't have had [on the album] if I hadn't held on to it." So, I am pleased I waited."
