On Monday, Prince George stole the stage at the royal family's combined visit to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The second-in-line to the British throne wore a suit and spoke with veterans inside Buckingham Palace, demonstrating his expanding position.
Those who watched him from the sidelines couldn't help but notice that during the palace reception with his parents, the royal family made it plain that William's oldest son is gradually transitioning into a new phase of his future position as a working royal.
During the palace tea reception, Prince William and Prince George met with Alfred Littlefield, a 101-year-old veteran.
The soldier informed them that he was just 20 years old when he joined the army and swam onto Normandy's beaches under heavy bombardment.
"What was it like when you were coming in?" George was overheard inquiring with genuine interest.
He acted like a mature lad and refused to respond when his younger brother, Prince Louis, 7, copied George doing his hair in an attempt to upset him.

According to royal custom, when Prince George turns 12 in July, he will no longer be permitted to fly with his father, Prince William.
This edict, established to preserve the monarchy's future, prohibits immediate heirs from traveling together, thereby protecting the line of succession.
