Queen Camilla issues an emotional speech as King Charles' treatment resumes

 

Buckingham Palace sent a heartfelt statement written by Queen Camilla as King Charles began cancer treatment after returning from Canada.

The Queen attended a somber occasion commemorating the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo, which involved the "great evacuation" of innocent lives during World War II.

Camilla's comment on the royal family's official Instagram page reads: "Today, together with the nation, The King and I would like to remember the heroic and unprecedented civilian war effort of Operation Dynamo on its 85th anniversary."

Notably, Queen Camilla recalled a painful remembrance of her father, who was among the survivors and was safely taken home 85 years ago today.

The princess added that her father remembered "wading out to a cement ship to find refuge and rest in its wheel-house."

"He noted in his memoirs that 'The ship was commanded by a midshipman who looked about twelve, assisted by a boatswain aged eighty.'"

In her new personal message, the Queen stated that his father, as well as his friends in the British Expeditionary Force and the allied forces, would be glad today for the "fortunate" opportunity to find "safe passage."

It is worth noting that Queen Camilla's message was delivered to the public during a major moment as her husband, the king, resumed his usual medical treatment following a cancer struggle.
