Samsung's Project Moohan headgear is slated to be released later this year, and the company's first extended reality (XR) wearable gadget has appeared on Geekbench, a famous testing website. The headset listing provides some insight into the impending device's features. It is intended to operate on Android XR, Google's new operating system designed just for XR devices. The Project Moohan headgear might be joined by additional smart wearables under development at the South Korean technology company.
Samsung Project Moohan Specifications (expected)
A Geekbench listing for a device with the model number SM-I610 was leaked on Tuesday, revealing the CPU, GPU, and RAM options for the company's future XR headset. Samsung's Project Moohan headgear will include a Snapdragon processor with six CPU cores. Two of these cores run at 2.36GHz, while the remaining four operate at 2.05GHz.
The benchmark item for the Project Moohan headgear also specifies that it will use an Adreno 740 GPU. This is the same GPU launched in Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This CPU and GPU configuration shows that the headset will use Qualcomm's Snapdraon XR2+ Gen 2 processor.
The Snapdragon XR+ Gen 2 supports twin screens with up to 3K resolution and is said to operate eight times better than its predecessor. It has Wi-Fi 7 connection and can support up to ten cameras and sensors at the same time, which is characteristic of XR and augmented reality (AR) gadgets.
The Geekbench entry also suggests that Samsung's Project Moohan headset will have 15.04GB of RAM, which is equivalent to around 16GB of RAM. It runs Android 14, which might be the foundation for Google's upcoming Android XR operating system.
In terms of performance, the Project Moohan headset received 990 points for the single core test and 2,453 points for the multicore test. This means that Samsung has endowed its future XR headset with a powerful processor capable of handling the demands of numerous XR apps and functions.
There is currently no news from Samsung on when the Project Moohan headgear will be released, but the firm may reveal additional details during its next Galaxy Unpacked presentation for its future foldable smartphones. Samsung is also developing a pair of AR glasses, which are scheduled to arrive after the XR headset.
