Scarlett Johansson recently opened out on what it was like to film The Avengers.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, the 40-year-old American actress and singer discussed her career and reflected on feeling uncool on the set of 2012's The Avengers.
Johansson, who originally appeared as Black Widow in the Marvel film Iron Man two years ago, said, "When we made the first 'Avengers,' none of us knew what the potential would be."
She continued, "'Iron Man' was a huge success. It was enormous. It constructed Marvel's studio. Iron Man 2 was likewise a hit. There was 'Thor,' but the figure seemed to come from a separate realm. It had such a different tone than the 'Iron Man' films."
"The 'Captain America' film had its own identity as well." To be honest, when you included all of the characters, including Hulk and Hawkeye, it felt like a huge chaos. Even on set, it seemed ridiculous. We all seemed mad. What are we doing? Aside from Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon, I don't think anyone knew if it would work or not. "The cast had blind faith in them," the Lucy star remarked.
Johansson admitted that she had no idea how large the film would be until they recorded the iconic moment in which the camera follows the Avengers as they prepare to battle, at which point she realized the film's potential.
The Jurassic World Rebirth actress remarked, "I recall the sequence where we're all in that 360-character ensemble. That was the point at which we all realized that this may work. "It felt powerful."
"We saw the replay and it looked pretty nice, but a lot of stuff didn't feel cool when we were filming it. We were young. We were having a wonderful time. We became such good buddies. "It was a blast," Johansson said.
