Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming to PS5 this summer, with new features

 

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, an action-adventure game that debuted on Xbox and PC last year, will finally be available for PlayStation 5 this summer, developer Ninja Theory said Wednesday. The sequel to 2017's Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice will be released on PS5 as a "enhanced" bundle with new features. Hellblade 2 joins the ever-growing list of Xbox exclusives revealed for the PlayStation 5. This year has already witnessed the debut of first-party Microsoft titles for PlayStation, including Forza Horizon 5 and Age of Mythology: Retold.

Ninja Theory announced an improved version of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 for PlayStation 5 on the one-year anniversary of the game's release for Xbox Series S/X and PC.

"We published the next part of Senua's narrative a year ago today, and we know many of you haven't had the opportunity to experience it for yourself. "We're excited to announce that Senua's Saga: Hellblade II will be released on PlayStation 5 this summer," the company wrote in an update to the Hellblade 2 website.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will be tailored for PS5 and PS5 Pro, with more features to be revealed later. The new features will be available as a free upgrade to both the Xbox Series S/X and PC versions of the game.

Ninja Theory has yet to specify a release date for the PS5 version of the game, but it will be available this summer. Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is now available for wishlisting on the PlayStation Store.

In February, Windows Central's Jez Corden stated that Hellblade 2 will be released on PS5 shortly and that it was a matter of "when" and "not if".

This year, Microsoft has doubled down on its multiplatform approach, distributing both new and old first-party titles on Sony consoles. Forza Horizon 5, an acclaimed open-world racing game that debuted on Xbox and PC in 2021, was published for PS5 in April. Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, which were released years ago, were also ported to the PS5 in 2025. Bethesda's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle landed on PS5 four months after its Xbox and PC releases.

New first-party titles were also launched concurrently for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series S/X. Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in April. Doom: The Dark Ages was released for PS5 last week, on the same day as the PC and Xbox Series S/X.

Earlier this month, Microsoft unveiled Gears of War: Reloaded, a remake of the original Gears of War for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The third-person shooter is planned to release on August 26.

However, the Xbox parent company's multiplatform approach has proven to be successful. Xbox games were the top three best-selling titles on the PlayStation Store in the United States, Canada, and the European Union in April. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the PS5 adaptation of Forza Horizon 5, and Minecraft were among the best-selling titles.
