Tom Cruise recently recalls reuniting with Val Kilmer for Top Gun: Maverick.
The 62-year-old actor returned to his renowned character as Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell for the 2022 sequel and thought it was "beautiful" that his co-star from the 1986 picture, Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, reprised his role as his rival-turned-ally.
Kilmer died last month from pneumonia problems, but Cruise described their encounter as a "joyous" event for both of them.
The Mission Impossible star told Sight and Sound magazine, "It was incredible to return all those years later and be on set for Top Gun: Maverick because it seemed like time had not gone. We were laughing, and it was great."
"We started acting, and he became Iceman. Even without saying anything, this person possesses the ability to transform into that character. You can notice how even the smell he gave. "He was Iceman," he explained.
Tom added, "And you witnessed the relationship between these buddies. For me, it was incredibly special.
"I just inform folks... Take Iceman from the first film and look at his entire road to become Iceman. And he didn't even have to talk," he explained.
"That's what he can do. wonderful, just wonderful. Tom Cruise said, "A gift he had and shared with all of us."
