Following Val Kilmer's terrible passing, Tom Cruise spoke about his time working with him on Top Gun: Maverick.
In a recent interview with Sight and Sound magazine, the 62-year-old actor complimented the late star's stunning performance in the 2022 sequel, calling it 'wonderful' to watch Val recreating his legendary role as Iceman more than three decades after they first appeared together on screen.
"Look at Iceman in the first film and then again here; what a trip. He didn't even need to speak. That was the talent he possessed, and he shared it with us all. "Beautiful, really beautiful," Tom said.
The Hollywood legend went on to say, "It was as if time had not passed." We were laughing, and it was joyful. And then we started acting; he became Iceman. This guy's might, even in quiet, transformed him into that figure. Just a scent, a glance, and he was Iceman."
Tom reflected on Val's legendary role, saying, "He had to strike precisely the right tone. He played it so effectively that at the end, you wished those men were pals.
"I recall that moment when he executed that small biting gesture; it was electrifying. It's exciting to perform alongside someone who is just on," the Mission Impossible star added.
Val died on April 1 at the age of 64. According to The Mirror, the actor died of symptoms from pneumonia.
Tom and Val first appeared on screen together in 1986's Top Gun.
