Taylor Swift was strangely absent at the American Music Awards, leaving fans wondering why the global pop queen missed one of music's biggest nights.
Swifties were persuaded in the days building up to the awards presentation on Monday, May 26, that the Enchanted singer had been dropping hints about a significant surprise she may make during the ceremony. The much-anticipated night came, but Taylor did not.
Why didn't Taylor Swift attend the AMAs?
The Cruel Summer singer appears to have chosen to stay close to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in order to "support and spend time" with him throughout his training for the next NFL season.
The pair was last seen together just three days before the star-studded event, on Friday, May 23, for a cozy date night at Harry's Bar & Restaurant in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to People.
Taylor, 35, could have easily made the cross-country trip—West Palm Beach to Los Angeles is around 2,324 miles and takes about 6 hours to fly—but she appears to have chosen to spend quality time with her lover instead.
In April, a source said that the You Belong With Me singer and Travis, 35, are "making the most of their time off together." They're also hanging out with their mates. It's a fantastic moment for them."
Though no official comment has been issued on her AMA absence, it appears that the 14-time Grammy winner is prioritizing her personal life, particularly after completing the latest leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour.
Furthermore, some fans believe that the Reputation singer has reduced her public appearances owing to her rumored engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
Others assume that her absence is related to the supposed legal problems between her former BFF Blake Lively and actor Justin Baldoni.
Meanwhile, many admirers feel Taylor is simply enjoying some well-deserved downtime with the guy she adores away from the limelight.
