The recent internet outcry to fiction author J.K. Rowling's anti-transgender sentiments has prompted a response from the network that will screen her next Harry Potter relaunch.
In a recent development, HBO's CEO, Casey Bloys, commented on the author's role in the future series.
"The decision to do business with J.K. Rowling is not new to us. We have been in business for 25 years. We already have a program on HBO from her called C.B. Strike, which we produce with the BBC," Bloys remarked on the April 30 episode of The Town podcast, when asked if he is continuously checking the author's X account to see what further she uploads.
The HBO executive then cleared the air on the author's "personal political views," saying that "Harry Potter is not being secretly infused with anything."
"I think it's quite obvious that they are her own political beliefs. "She's entitled to them," he said. "And if you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter."
Rowling initially received flak in 2020 for anti-transgender statements she made on X, prompting numerous Harry Potter actors, including Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe, to speak out in support of the transgender community.
