Director Len Wiseman, who created the scripts for Keanu Reeves' John Wick 3 and 4, has revealed a rare detail about the upcoming picture.
Ana de Armas' Ballerina, written by Jay Hatten, acts as a spin-off to the aforementioned flicks.
The Wiseman-directed film also stars Reeves, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, Norman Reedus, and many others.
Many may be aware that the new film focuses around Eve Macarro, who seeks vengeance from the criminal organization 'Ruska Roma' for her father's death.
However, most Chad Stahelski franchise fans are unaware that Ballerina was not originally intended to be a part of the John Wick universe.
The creator had intended for it to be an original film, but it was remade specifically for inclusion in the Wick franchise, according to Collider.
The filmmaker said in a statement: "I was working with Shay in 2018 and developing it into Ballerina… and one of the things that I really connected to was the tribe that Shay had created, and there was an opportunity there to really expand on making that much more of a cult."
"Unlike previous tribes we've encountered in John Wick... And I mean, scripts go through numerous revisions."
Armas' action thriller debuted in theaters on June 5.
