Legendary player David Beckham is apparently slated to earn a Knighthood from King Charles, a rare honor that recognizes his remarkable services.
Beckham, the Inter Miami CF and Salford City co-owner, will be honored for his soccer career and contributions to British society, according to the BBC.
David's long-awaited knighthood will not only offer him prestigious recognition, but will also bestow a new title on his fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham, who will be legally recognized as Lady Beckham.
The new claim comes after David was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2003. The former Manchester United footballer was apparently nominated for a knighthood more than 10 years ago, with the nomination coming in 2011.
David, who has been for England's national soccer team over 100 times, has also gained recognition for his philanthropic efforts with needy youngsters.
David recently confirmed his relationship with the royal organization, stating, "I'm excited to be working with The King's Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity's work."
At the time, he said in a statement: "I'm particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation's education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature."
Last month, Charles attended the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show in London, where he stole the show by wearing a new rose named after the King while speaking at the Highgrove store stand.
In February, he attended the King's Foundation's UK-Italy commemorative dinner at Highgrove House, where Victoria, 51, also appeared.
David's relationship with the royals, as well as his people-friendly initiatives, elevated him to the status of a famous figure among royal enthusiasts.
However, it is unknown if Brooklyn Beckham will attend the unique event at which his father will be knighted.
Victoria and David's eldest son recently made news for missing the footballer's 50th birthday festivities, fuelling suspicions of a family reunion after appearing in images with Harry and Meghan. Despite this, David has sent love texts and images to Brooklyn, implying a passionate connection.
