Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's idea to serve as 'part-time working royals' allegedly enraged a Palace insider.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gained international notice five years ago when they opted to build a life in California after stepping down from royal duties.
At the time, the pair stunned the royal audience by declaring a desire to work part-time for the monarchy while still pursuing 'financial independence.'
The Sussexes said in their first statement, 'We will continue to cooperate with Her Majesty The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, and all appropriate parties.'
Actually, the pair wished to explain that they did not aim to completely cut relations with the Royal Family, but rather to 'establish a processive new position inside this institution.'
However, the usage of the word 'collaborate' apparently raised concerns in royal circles.
A Palace source told the DailyMail, "No one collaborates with the Queen." This is not one of those 'Kate Moss Top Shop collaborations.'
Another insider added: 'Her Late Majesty was no idiot, and she knew it was all going to end in tragedy.'
To far, Harry and Meghan have dabbled in high-profile projects in the United States to maintain their lifestyle, which includes expensive private security arrangements and the upkeep of their lavish Montecito residence.
