Robert Irwin praises Prince William as a 'true environmental hero'

 

Robert Irwin has nothing but admiration for his environmentalist colleague, Prince William.

Speaking to Us Weekly ahead of the Steve Irwin Gala in May, the 21-year-old wildlife fighter discussed collaborating with the Prince of Wales on environmental initiatives, calling it "an incredible synergy."

"I think Prince William has been such an amazing person to work with," Irwin, 21, stated in an interview released on Sunday, June 1.

"I think it's wonderful that someone so influential… is using that to really better our environment," he said. He described William as "a true environmental hero."

In 2024, Irwin, the son of the late Australian naturalist Steve Irwin, was designated a Global Ambassador for Prince William's Earthshot Prize. The project promotes ground-breaking environmental solutions in five important areas, including climate repair and nature preservation.

Irwin has not only publicly supported the initiative, but he has also attended its Singapore ceremony and is continuing to promote its objective across the world.

Irwin stated that he and the future monarch had become strong partners in the cause.

"We've definitely compared a lot of notes in the conservation space," he told me. "Plus, he's a lovely guy. When you have a discussion with him, he is the most gorgeous, brilliant guy to talk to, and he is just so relaxed and entertaining."
