Samsung's Galaxy S26 series is still months away from a possible release, but a recent leak implies some significant hardware advancements for the smartphones. The flagship series, which is rumored to comprise the vanilla Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, is believed to have more RAM than previous models. The RAM boost is anticipated to handle all of the enhanced and Galaxy AI functions that are slated to be included in the new series. The leak also hints to the RAM specifications for the iPhone 17 series.
New Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Leak Suggests RAM Upgrades
According to tipster Jukan Choi (@Jukanlosreve), data from Macquarie Research indicates that next year's Galaxy S26 series will have 16GB of RAM. According to a fresh report, the Samsung Galaxy S series may be offered in all countries with 16GB of RAM. This would be an update from the current Galaxy S25 series.
In some areas, like as Korea and China, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the sole model with 16GB of RAM. The vanilla Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ have 12GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the informant adds that Apple will provide a 12GB RAM option in the iPhone 17 series this year. The lineup, which is believed to comprise the vanilla iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, might be announced in September this year. This would be an upgrade above the existing iPhone 16 models, which have 8GB RAM. Next year's iPhone 18 series is expected to continue with 12GB.
The speculated RAM bump in the Galaxy S26 series might help improve the performance of Galaxy AI-powered services, as well as multitasking and gaming. This would enable Samsung to strengthen its position in the extremely competitive smartphone market, particularly against Chinese smartphone manufacturers, many of which now sell devices with up to 24GB of RAM. The OnePlus 13 and Red Magic 10 Pro series are available with up to 24GB RAM.
