The 28-year-old also won the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award for 2022, retaining his ODI batting title from 2021.
In addition, he became the first player in history to score three consecutive ODI centuries twice. In 2022, he scored two consecutive centuries against Australia and one against the West Indies.
Despite the fact that results did not always go Pakistan's way, Babar had a fantastic year in Test cricket. He scored 1,184 runs in just nine matches and did the majority of Pakistan's heavy lifting in the longer format.
The year was also a watershed moment for Babar as a white-ball captain. Under Babar's captaincy, Pakistan won all three ODI series, losing only one match out of nine to Australia.
