Jenna Ortega paid tribute to the original Wednesday Addams actor, Lisa Loring, who died at the age of 64.
Loring was only six years old when she was cast as Wednesday Addams in the 1966 comedy The Addams Family. In Netflix's Wednesday, Ortega, 20, plays the adolescent version of the melancholy, pigtailed heroine.
Following Loring's death, Ortega posted a tribute to the late actress on her Instagram Stories.
She posted a black-and-white photo of Lisa dressed as a toddler with a lovely message. "I am completely devastated. "Thank you so much," she wrote.
The post follows the announcement of Loring's death. Her daughter Vanessa Foumberg told The Hollywood Reporter that she died Saturday night, January 28, 2023, at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank of complications from a stroke induced by high blood pressure.
"She passed away calmly, with both of her daughters [Vanessa and Marianne] holding her hands," she added.
Loring's long-time agent, Chris Carbaugh, told CNN that the late actress was "surrounded by her family."
"She brought to life one of Hollywood's most legendary figures, who is still revered today," Carbaugh added. "Lisa enjoyed sharing her stories and meeting all of her followers from all around the world. She will be sorely missed."
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon before to Lisa's passing, Jenna discussed the influence she had and how she paid tribute to her in the upcoming Netflix series. "I paid my respects to Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams. "I tried a little bit of her shuffle that she does," Jenna told HollywoodLife in December 2022.
