Several social media users chastised the reality TV actress for being a "cultural vulture" after she paid $197,453 for the legendary piece of jewellery.
Following that, Royal expert Valentine Lowe speculated on how the late Princess of Wales' family would have responded to The Kardashians star receiving the jewellery.
"I believe they are laughing at it. "Laugh about it over breakfast and move on," the journalist advised Us Weekly.
"[They] wouldn't be irritated, I don't believe," Lowe continued.
The necklace was worn by King Charles III's first wife in 1987 at a London charity banquet, along with a gorgeous purple gown.
