Shortly after announcing Mickey Arthur as Pakistan's first "online" coach, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that Arthur would be appointed as "team director" rather than head coach, according to reports on Monday.
According to reports, the job of head coach of the Pakistan cricket team has been chosen to be abolished since the board prefers to work with assistant coaches rather than head coaches.
Along with the former South African cricketer, the PCB will appoint three assistant coaches for batting, bowling, and fielding.
Sources had told Geo News that former New Zealand Test cricketer Grant Bradburn is expected to return to the Pakistan cricket system.
Bradburn, who served as the Pakistan men's team's fielding coach from 2018 to 2020, is expected to become the team's assistant coach.
Arthur, who led Pakistan to its first-ever ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2017, will serve as team director and oversee all operations.
According to the planned contract, the former Pakistan coach would not be available to the national team during the English county season.
Arthur will travel to Australia with the team for the ODI World Cup in 2023.
Previously, it was claimed that Arthur had agreed to embark on an online coaching job until this year's ICC World Cup, which will be held in India.
According to reliable sources, Arthur will be accessible on the ground for only a few tasks. The former coach has pledged to accompany the squad in India for this year's 50-overs big tournament. Meanwhile, he will continue to serve as a full-time coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
The national cricket governing body, on the other hand, has chosen to select a Chief of Staff for Arthur.
Rehanul Haq, General Manager of Islamabad United, is expected to replace Mansoor Rana as team manager.
The former Sri Lanka coach is expected to visit Lahore in early April.
