Alan Cumming recently expressed his surprise at the public reaction to the news that he had returned his OBE medal.
Cumming told The Hollywood Reporter of the reaction, "I didn't exactly anticipate it to have such a worldwide impact."
"I think I broke the internet," he said.
"I thought there would be a little something about it definitely, but not that much," Cumming said.
"It was kind of crazy. "I was on the cover of every newspaper in Scotland today," said the Spy Kids actor.
Cumming received an OBE in the 2009 Queen's Birthday Honours for his contributions to film, theatre, and the arts, as well as his LGBT+ advocacy in the United States.
Cumming had already returned the OBE honour on his 58th birthday via social media.
