Top Gun: Maverick was named Best Picture at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, which were hosted Saturday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
After receiving five major Oscar nominations this year, the Tom Cruise-starring sequel to 1986's Top Gun has continued its winning run.
Top Gun: Maverick beat out Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Tár and Women Talking, and The Woman King for the top honour.
Jerry Bruckheimer, who also produced the original in 1986, collected the AARP award (American Association of Retired Persons).
"I've produced over 50 films and over 2,000 hours of television, but one question kept coming up: 'Will there ever be another 'Top Gun?'" Variety reported on what Bruckheimer stated in his remarks.
"After nearly four decades, everything fell into place, and we finally launched the much-anticipated sequel exactly when everyone seemed to need it the most."
