Despite allegations that Katherine Heigl is a diva on set, Josh Duhamel has nothing but positive things to say about working with her.
The actor was eager to defend Heigl and the reputation she's gained in the business on the Monday, January 30, episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast.
"Katie Heigl has a bad rap, but she's great," the actress from Shotgun Wedding said. "She's fantastic."
"She certainly said some things she wishes she could take back, but my experience with her, on and off screen, was fantastic."
According to Us Weekly, Duhamel and the 27 Dresses actress, 44, co-starred in Life As We Know It in 2010. Heigl was viewed as "difficult" to work with at the time owing to her heated comments regarding her experience on Grey's Anatomy, which contributed to her final leave.
Katherine withdrew her name from Grey's Anatomy Emmy consideration in 2008, despite winning the award the year before, citing at the time that she didn't feel she was "given the material" to deserve a candidature. She then apologised to the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, and stated that her comment "wasn't fair" to the writers.
Duhamel, 50, also believes Heigl, 44, was mischaracterized as a result of a few isolated events.
"I believe what happened to Katie is that, you know, she had a couple horrible moments and that's what everybody wants to just — that's her label now, and it's not really fair," he explained.
According to Page Six, Heigl said to Howard Stern in 2016 that she had to go to treatment as a result of her terrible image.
"I was really battling with it, and trying not to take it all personally, and not to feel like there's something very terribly wrong with me," the Firefly Lane star explained to the radio presenter.
In addition to Duhamel, Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo recently applauded Heigl for standing up for herself. "I recall Heigl saying something about the excessive hours we were working on a talk show — and she was 100 percent accurate," she added.
"If she'd said it now, she'd be a tremendous hero, but she's ahead of her time. [She] made a comment about our hectic hours, and let's trash a woman and call her ungrateful."
