On February 3, 2023, Kit Harrington appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and discussed the rumoured spinoff series.
Fallon brought up the matter by referencing rumours of the said series, which stars Kit's character Jon Snow.
"I don't know, do you want it?" Harrington said slyly.
Fallon said that not only would he "love to have it," but so would the rest of the world.
"Yeah, I can't say anything about that," the Eternals actor said with a knowing smile.
When Fallon pressed Kit on the subject and what motivated him to pursue the series, he said, "I get recognised a bit less anymore, and that kind of wounds my ego."
He was just in Los Angeles for the Game of Thrones conference. Fallon inquired of the actor, 36, about his experiences attending such events.
Kit remarked that it felt "a little like travelling back in time."
"I know it's just been four years or so, but it feels like a lot longer," he added. "And I went to it, and it's good to see the people, and it's sort of incredible that the show still has such a fan following, and it's going on its own."
Kit played Jon Snow from April 2011 until May 2019, appearing in virtually every episode of Game of Thrones.
According to Us Weekly, soon before the August 2022 broadcast of prequel House of the Dragon, HBO is developing a Game of Thrones sequel series centred on Jon Snow, with Kit Harington set to resume his role as the former Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
George R.R. Martin, the author of the books on which Game of Thrones is based, confirmed the news in June 2022. "Yes, a Jon Snow show is in the works," he stated on his blog at the time.
"Yes, Kit Harrington [sic] was the one who suggested it to us. I can't give you the names of the writers/showrunners because they haven't been released yet... But Kit also brought in his own crew, and they are fantastic."
