The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday that national players are permitted to compete in the current Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) till February 8, according to Geo News.
Previously, the players were told to return to the nation by February 2, however the PCB's decision only applies to those who would not be playing in the forthcoming exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in Quetta.
Players slated to participate in the exhibition game on February 5 have been instructed to return home by February 2.
The PCB had previously recommended all players to return to the nation by February 2, eleven days before the start of the PSL 8 in Multan. The PCB stated that it has recalled the players who will be playing in PSL 8 in response to the teams' requests.
It is worth noting that notable players from the national T20 side, including as Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Naseem Shah, are taking part in BPL 2023.
Earlier, PCB Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi informed all players that participation in the exhibition match in Quetta was necessary.
In no uncertain terms, Sethi stated: "It is our contractual right to call our athletes back at any time and from any location. This occurs all throughout the world. I understand that they want to make money by fulfilling their contract, but we rely on them to serve our national interests."
It should be noted that the PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13, prior to the tournament opener between the 2021 winners Multan Sultans and the defending champions Lahore Qalandars; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.
Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win back-to-back championships, while Islamabad United will try to become the most successful team by winning the trophy three times.
Rawalpindi will host 11 games, while Karachi and Lahore will each host nine, and Multan will host five.
