Celine Dion is paying tribute to musical artist Quincy Jones, who died at the age of 91 on November 4, 2024.
The Queen of Power Ballads spoke to social media a day after Jones' passing to reflect on his colossal impact on music and their treasured collaboration.
"I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my friend, the one and only musical genius, Quincy Jones," she said on her blog. Dion characterized him as a "cherished mentor" and a towering figure who had an everlasting impact on American music.
The Grammy winner went on, "I was privileged to work with Quincy; it was a dream come true." His musical sense was extraordinary during our sessions."
Dion described how Jones taught her to create a "little piece of heaven" in her songs. "Quincy always knew exactly what each song needed," she told me.
Along with her enthusiasm for Jones' musical abilities, Dion complimented his altruism, particularly his commitment to promoting the arts, combating famine, and assisting poor children.
"His reach truly extends to all corners of the globe," she told me.
She closed her speech with Jones' words: "Music is the soul of the universe." "It connects us all on a level that words cannot."
