Kenan Thompson is the longest-running cast member of the American live sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Kenan recently discussed his experience on the show on his co-star Ego Nwodim's Thanks Dad podcast.
As the longest-serving member and performer on the live comedy sketch program, he reminisced on the "bittersweet" experiences he's had over the years.
"Being there a long time, you watch people come and go," he told me.
"So you have to deal with the parting of friendships, that kind of thing."
He characterized it as lamenting the loss of those who had departed the show.
The Kenan and Kel actor explained that the painful farewells extend well beyond co-stars departing the show.
"We've had crew members die," the actor explained.
The comedian went on to say that these goodbyes are especially important to him since they include not just the cast leaving the show and moving on, but also the deaths of crew members.
The Emmy winner has been with the program for more than two decades, appearing in 22 seasons.
