Kate Middleton may have finished her cancer treatment, but the royal family is still concerned about the future Queen's well-being.
The Princess of Wales attended her first big royal calendar event on Saturday night, the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The next day, the future Queen, who had completed her cancer treatment in September, stood on the balcony with Duchess Sophie for the Cenotaph's Remembrance Day march.
According to a royal biographer, despite Kate's improved mood and health, Prince William looks to be still suffering from the events of this year and is more protective of his wife.
"He was placing his arm over her, extremely protective. "It is related to what he said about this being a 'brutal' year," royal historian Sally Bedell Smith told People Magazine regarding the Saturday evening events.
"He is not known for expressing his emotions in that way," Smith stated of William. "It was solicitous and protective in a very understandable way."
She said, "There was a purpose for it; she was about to attend a large event where she would be on show. His behavior had a reassuring quality to it."
The statements follow William's admission in an interview during his visit to Cape Town, South Africa.
"Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult," William said to reporters.
"But I'm very proud of my wife and father for how they handled the situation. But from a personal family standpoint, it has been horrible."
