The Palace presents a special moment for King Charles and Camilla hours before the banquet.

 

Following a series of health crises, King Charles and Queen Camilla staged the year's most major royal event on Tuesday, December 3rd.

The royal couple welcomed Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, at Buckingham Palace for the State Banquet.

Just hours before the special luncheon began, the Palace released a behind-the-scenes video of the King and Queen inspecting the elaborate arrangements for the big event.

The video description said, "Finishing touches and final checks ahead of this evening's State Banquet…"

In the video, Charles is accompanied by his wife, who is still recovering from a viral chest ailment, as they inspect the preparations for the big occasion. The pair made laps around the ballroom, inspecting the dazzling silverware on the table and the decorations being set up.

The feast specifics were planned weeks in advance, with careful consideration given to the customs and traditions of the country being visited. Some British traditions are also adopted to accommodate the 150 supper attendees.

The State Banquet is the first since King Charles revealed his cancer illness this year. Kate Middleton's first major event after her nine-month cancer treatment, which ended in September.
