Anna Wintour responds to Kate Middleton's Vogue cover rumors

 

Dame Anna Wintour is clarifying rumors about Princess Kate and Vogue.

The 74-year-old Vogue editor-in-chief addressed speculation that the Princess of Wales was offered a global Vogue cover while speaking at Buckingham Palace. Wintour, who was being honoured as a Companion of Honour for her contributions to fashion, was asked about the reports — and she wasn’t having it.

"Yeah, I don't know where those [rumors] have come from, do you?" she said with a smile.

Last month, the Mail on Sunday said that Wintour personally approached Kate, 43, with a unique offer: complete creative freedom, including choosing her own photographer, style, and even selecting whether or not to grant an interview. The rumored contract would have featured the princess on the covers of both British and American Vogue.

Kate previously graced the cover of Vogue UK in 2016 for its centenary edition, but whether she will return is unknown. A source told the Mail that her courage in fighting illness while raising three children had inspired others.

"She would get to choose which covers she would be featured on," according to the insider.
