Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, who are now playing a larger part in the royal family, are about to celebrate a key milestone in their life.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's popularity has increased since King Charles' succession. Following the monarch's and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnoses, the royal couple played a significant part in taking on additional responsibilities.
The couple, who recently returned from a royal visit to Nepal representing the King, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in June. Former royal journalist Jennie Bond discussed the couple's plans for the important event.
She told OK! Magazine that Edward and Sophie will probably have a "low-key" party this time around.
"I rather doubt they go in for flashy presents on routine birthdays," she told me. "They've both spoken recently about how their life together is full of laughter and humour, so a jokey gift might well be on its way to Edward."
Bond said, "Or perhaps she discovered something on their tour to Nepal. And I'm sure he'd enjoy nothing more than a cozy supper with his wife and maybe a few good pals."
Sophie and Prince Edward married in the summer of 1999 at Windsor Castle's St Georges Chapel.
During their journey to Nepal, the pair declared that they were still "best friends" despite years of marriage and two children - Lady Louise, 21, and James Wessex, 17 - which is the key to their close bond.
