Colin Farrell, the Penguin actor, has talked himself about being a dad to a child with a neurogenetic disease.
Farrell has a kid named James, whom he welcomed with ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave in 2003.
The 21-year-old suffers from a rare neurogenetic ailment known as "Angelman Syndrome," which causes intellectual handicap, delayed development, and mobility, speech, and balance issues.
The Batman actor revealed that he has a strong feeling of terror, but he also has love and respect in him that has grown with time.
Colin told Candis Magazine, "When James was born, we thought he was perfect." He is flawless, but we assumed he was both physically and neurologically perfect."
The Golden Globe winner confessed that he takes nothing for granted.
"You take nothing for granted. There's a strong sense of terror - I've rushed through the hospital with James in my arms during a seizure - but there's also love and respect."
The 45-year-old went on to say, "You've heard that a child's first steps are a watershed event in the lives of both the parent and the youngster. Well, if you've been told that your child may never walk, those steps take on a whole new significance.
Farrell has another son named Henry, whom he shares with ex-partner Alicja Bachleda-Curús.
