Ed Sheeran has surprised his fans by revealing that he will play a headline set at the Super Bowl.
During his regal guest on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the Shape of You hitmaker spoke about being contacted to play at the historic Super Bowl halftime show.
Sheeran said that he didn't think he had the charisma to pull off a performance on that platform, saying, "There was a talk around 10 years ago to go on alongside someone, and I think that'd be the only way I'd do it right now.
"I don't think English artists are like — I mean, there are some that have the pizzazz of Super Bowl, fireworks, dancers, blah, blah, blah — but me going up there and being like, here's 'The A Team' and here's 'Perfect,' no one wants to see that."
In addition, the 34-year-old stated that he cannot imagine himself performing on stage at the event.
He went on to explain, "Whereas, if there was a show with a lot of that, say, Beyoncé's show with all the bells and whistles, and then there was a moment where we sung Perfect together, that makes sense to me." But I don't know. I can't see myself doing that. "Can you picture me doing it?"
On the professional front, Sheeran just released Azizam, the first song off his eighth studio album, on April 4, 2025.
