Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning has already generated a lot of buzz ahead of its debut.
The filmmakers have released a slew of behind-the-scenes videos and photographs, whetting fans' appetites for the finished product.
The new film is touted to be the most ambitious ever in the franchise owing to the violent action sequences it contains and the frenetic filming locations chosen for the production.
Simon Pegg, who played Benji Dunn in the film series, spoke about shooting the picture in one of the most difficult places, the 'Arctic'.
Pegg disclosed that they all shot in temperatures of -40 degrees, which presented several difficulties.
"We were filming on a frozen sea, so the only thing stopping us from drowning in ice-cold water was… more frozen water in a solid kind of mass" , according to him.
The BAFTA winner also joked that they had to stop the cameras three times due to the presence of 'polar bears'.
"We literally had to stop shooting three times to allow polar bears to walk through the set" , Simon related. He said, "Even Tom Cruise can't stop polar bears from doing their business."
He also addressed the film's authenticity, adding, 'There's no AI involved, this is you on site - you can't fake it.
Christopher McQuarrie directs the eighth Mission: Impossible sequel, which will be released in theaters on May 23.
