King Charles conducted an important meeting at Windsor Castle, as the monarch resumed his critical royal responsibilities barely one day after hearing heartbreaking news.
Following his arrival in the United Kingdom on Sunday, the King met privately with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Tuesday.
In a social media image provided by the premier, the King was shown in excellent spirits, greeting Luxon and firmly shaking his hand.
"His Majesty King Charles III has a deep love of New Zealand," the Prime Minister stated in the tweet. "It was an honour to have an audience with him at Windsor Castle upon my arrival in London."
While Luxon did not go into detail about his meeting in Windsor, he had high respect for the monarch.
“There’s a long-standing convention we don’t talk about the detail of those conversations. But suffice it to say, as you might expect, he has a lot of time for New Zealand and is interested in what's going on back home."
Luxon stated that they "covered a number of topics" but "won't go into too much detail around that."
The encounter follows the terrible news that Pope Francis died on Monday, barely 12 days after the King and Queen Camilla saw him in Italy.
Charles had composed an emotive message to show his anguish at the loss. Luxon explained that at the outset of the private meeting, they discussed the late pontiff's death.
The meeting also comes as curiosity grows regarding Prince Andrew's return to the royal family after the disgraced Duke of York openly joined the royal family for an Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel.
Residents in York have began clamoring for Andrew's Duke of York title to be removed because it "tarnishes York's reputation."
Andrew, who has been entangled in a series of scandals that have embarrassed the royal family on several times, will return to the royal fold, according to royal analyst Phil Dampier, and it is "only a matter of time".
He also stated that Prince William continues to obstruct Andrew's goals, and that the future monarch has no place for his uncle because of his irresponsible escapades.
